Is Quality Over Quantity in Relationships?

Someone said, is there a situation where quality over quantity does not apply? I think it might apply to just about everything in life. There's nothing to be gained from bad company. Don't go and hang out with people from work that you don't really like ter work. The whole point of hobbies is that there's supposed to be fun. So whatever hobby makes you feel the most excited should be what you focus on.
