The Emergence of the Global Superorganism
At lower levels where you have populations of millions of organisms, the individuals competing with one another, then say you have the emergence of a proto collective. A powerful entity emerges that can farm a group of smaller scale entities and extract an ongoing stream of benefits from that collective rather than just rape and pillage at once. So Genghis Khan raped and pillaged once and he actually literally raped and pillaging on all accounts. And particularly that got hard to find someone of his father hadn't already raped and pillages. But yeah, that's, that's a critically important point because everything changes when you get near to the emergence of the global superorganism.
