For most of the next couple of centuries, artificial insemination was primarily the purview of farmers. It wasn't until the 1970s that it really took off as a practice. Dr. Norman Barwin rose to become the president of the Canadian Fertility Society. He also worked as a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Ottawa.
