Are the Tumors in the Tasmanian Devil the Same?
Tumours in dogs and tasmanian devils are both transmissible cancers. Tumours can become silent or invisible in the population, allowing them to spread. Scientists have been able to restore some of these antegems that usually cot the tumor cells - then if you put those into a t asmanian devil we see an immune response against antigens on the tumor cells. But unfortunately, it does seem as if this type of vaccine, with these antigen on the surface of the tumor cells, doesn't seem to work in 100% of animals.
