As many as 100,000 people lined the expressway to the airport to see him off. After a year in his new tank, Keiko gained 2,000 pounds. His warts had disappeared. He could now hold his breath for up to 20 minutes. The Free Willy Keiko Foundation became more encouraged that he could be successfully reintroduced to the Icelandic waters from which he came.
