The Disappearance of Community Institutions and Bonds

I do think there's one of the interesting breaks between 1973 and now is that many more of our presidents and people at the top of government have not served, did not serve, had no interest in serving. So I do wonder if those forming institutions, many of which grew organically in smaller communities that used to produce people who then went to Congress also produced functioning local government. Those institutions disappear and they're not really replaced. The connections that are formed there are not the sort of way that you help someone develop the skills to become either a local or national political leader. That's that's a that's a depressing way to live.
