In every culture pretty much you have legal codes accompanied by by narrative. The surrounding context which might be narrative for instance is going to be crucial to trying to constrain the inevitably open-ended future interpretation of a law too. There's a kind of discrepancy between the moral and political context in which these debates are taking place and the kinds of legal frameworks that are trying to adjudicate them, says Justice Sotomayor.
