Adaptive Responses to Disasters
M h counselling and the p f e model view people's reactions to crises as adaptive, rather than psychological or pathological. The primary goal of this initial interaction with people is to help survivors cope with normal reactions to an abnormal event. Effective d m h responses are directed by five empiric inform factors. First, safety. Two, calming. Three, believing in their self efficacy and their collective efficacy of them in their community. Four, connectedness and five hope mental health professionals are well trained in being able to provide clients with these five factors.
