The Lord's Promises Keep Abraham Going
In chapter 15, we have these restatements his posterities compared to the stars. I think part of it may be just to buck up abraham and give him confidence that the lord haves him make the sacrifice. And then in 17 18 we see this ritual action, very common inth ancient near east, that that the sacrifices would be put in half. It sort of like, i think what's implied is, if if i break my covenant, may i be cut in half as thes sacrifices been cut in half.
