Are You Managing Developers Burned Out?

Engineers really value their flow time, their individual kind of focus time. A manager who isn't in tune with developers might just randomly pick up the phone and call a developer and say, Hey, you did a great job. And they don't realize that now it's going to take 30 minutes to get back that context to get back into that code. There's something called spoon theory too, and some people only have a certain amount of spoons they can give to social interaction. We should be mindful of that too, especially in the developer community.
