How Do I Know When to Start Strength Training?

The reason for side stitches is that it's essentially a muscle cramp of the diaphragm. You need to treat that muscle cramp the same way you treat any other muscle cramp. Increasing your mileage and intensity in a bit more of a strategic and gradual way will help you overcome that side stitch.
