The Challenges of the Gender Quotas
At the last election, it seemed to me that what Adrian describes as new candidates were sometimes token candidates. The Fien of all and Fénaguille barely met the 30%. And there were a number of female candidates added quite close to the election who had never contested an election before. I think a lot of the parties are very aware of the fact that the threshold is now going to be 40% the next time around. But we're going to face very significant challenges. There are moving boundaries. There are very volatile opinion polls, and there are legal obligations in relation to the gender quota.
