Film Review - The Zone
There is something about the zone and the way in which it's filmed which creates this really intensely heightened sense of something weird and magical going on. There are tracks across strange and ambiguous bits of ruined building or sort of zooms into slow kind of zooms towards rippling fields. Or there are these staged very bizarre shots of things underwater. I mean the zone is demarcated as this sort of place outside of normal reality by the switch from this strange like intense sepia black and white to color. Within the zone it seems like there's also this suspension of narrative logic in a way like things you don't really have any sense of how long anything is taking. What they're doing
