John Wick is staged with such wit and verve, style and coherence. There's a car chase relatively early on in the streets of Rome. And more than anything that might take away from the movie was that it felt like it had a real connection to an understanding of what has historically made action movies compelling. "When the characters are human or handcuffed together or there's some other hijinks, like it awakens other senses," he says.
