How far do you think the putin we see to day is the same putin as we saw in 19 99, two thousand? It's a very, very difficult question to answer. He believed when he came to pawer in two thousand, that russia's place was with europe. But by two thousand and seven, the mood had completely changed. And putin was kind of giving up on the west. Then from then on, things went from bad to worse. The war in ukrane doesn't look good for Russia's future or his legacy.
