142. Taking fear out of innovation

Innovation Kabuki Theater
The intention, I think the broader category is fun. If you can lower the temperature and take work a little less seriously, that can really change the cultural environment. We kind of joke around and call innovation Kabuki theater; there's contests and all sorts of things which generate excitement but don't fundamentally shift the gravitational pull of the organization. It doesn't mean we're being unserious about work. And it means that we recognize that fun can produce more productive and better work.
