The Old Breed of Marines
The battle of Ella Wood led to the creation of what would become known as the old breed of Marines. Devil Dog is a translation of German term, Tleifusunde Terrible German and Eiffelseunde translates to Devil Dog. The word first appeared in an American newspaper two months before the fight took place. It may have been something that Marine's gave themselves because they are arrogant.
