Cannabis: A Simple Marriage of Convenience

Michael Pollan has written the most elegantly about this, I think, for a popular audience. It's not that it's a magical medicinal plant, it's that it gets you super stoned. And we've seen this with cannabis. If liverwort had slightly less THC in it and you couldn't really extract it in an effective way as a primitive human, it wouldn't have gone anywhere. He'd just be another isolated shrub that exists in Central Asia. And that's it.
