The Story of Isaiah

This is just Israelite culture. This is what the people of Israel did and it was their way of honoring God's presence as the author of life. But it's not the last word in this story here. Fast forward about 500 years from Moses and so on. And there's this story that kind of develops this whole idea in a new direction. It's a story about one of Israel's prophets, a guy named Isaiah. He lived right in the vicinity of the temple where God's holy presence had taken up residence.
