My Mother's Relationship With Both Her Parents Was Rocky

My father is a difficult man, cruel. He wants to break a person's spirit until they no longer fight him. My mother has no one left. Her whole life is me and my siblings and her husband. I have always gritted my teeth and tolerated whenever she'd snap at me because i understand she can't stand up for herself against my dad. So i stayed quiet and took the yelling and left. Whenever i have an emotional outburst or do anything my mother doesn't like, she repays it in kind and says really hurtful things or just mocks me. Paul, i just need to know if i'm being unfair, am i asking for too much?
