The Capidocians and the Trinity
debate raged over the fundamental Christian belief that Jesus of Nazareth was divine. The Son of God become flesh, in order that through his sacrifice humanity could be redeemed from sin. Just as theologians didn't want to say with the Arians that the Father is utterly distinct from the Son, so theydidn't want to compromise the unity of Christ.
