The Search for Meaning in Psychology
I really resonate with your search for meaning within psychology. Frank Martella and Michael Stiger proposed three meanings of meaning, coherence, purpose and significance. So I now would argue that what contributes to meaning in life is purpose, perspectival coherence and mattering. The notion of coherence is a work in progress - some of the original experimental work by Hanselman has failed to replicate. It means there's something probably wrong in our construct in an important way. A third-person cosmic perspective undermines our personal, local perspective and makes us feel like our lives are insignificant. They have no meaning.
