In some places like the north-west territories there are 11 official languages. People get pen-indianized or pen-indigenized and it's easy to kind of paint everybody with the same picture. So when I began my research on the Inuit one thing that kept coming up over and over was the Franklin expedition. The ship had been fortified, they had enough supplies to keep them alive for almost three years but also brought along a lot of useless Victorian niceties such as button polish and organ. We want to know more about scurvy in Canada. This is a reoccurring theme of our podcast now.
