Are There Things Happening in the Universe That Would Be Prohibitive to Life?

In the very beginning of the universe, things were pretty hot and crazy. It's hard to imagine life as we know it existing, at least in the very early universe. You need some kind of energy which can be converted into energy that life can use. Like i said earlier, you need some time for this to be able to happen.
