I Don't Need Lidar for Driverless Cars

Am elon has several times on twitter made the argument that we don't need litar for driverless cars. And there's in which he might be right and ways in which he's almost certainly wrong. The kind of ai that we have now is cognitively unsophisticated, so there are all kinds of places where humans use a cognitive sophistication to make up for lousiness in other ways. We might really need the lightr right now with the tools we have right now. So i think the not using lightar is just foolish.
