Rolling Thunder stars William Devane as Major Charles Rain, a prisoner of war who finds himself back in his small Texas town. The carnage in Rolling Thunder, including a shot of Devane's hand being pushed into a garbage disposal, jolted audiences. At one screening, angry moviegoers burst into the lobby and threatened to beat up the studio executives. Nearly a year and a half after Rolling Thunder's 1977 release, you could still find the movie playing at some drive-ins.
