How to Reduce Noise in a Crowd
The best way of using a group of people is by obtaining independent judgments from each of them. When you collect a lot of independent judgments, you can drive noise to zero. But for that, their judgments have to be independent. It's like when you have a bunch of witnesses to a crime. If you let them speak among themselves, it's as if you had fewer witnesses because the testimony is less useful.
