Is There a Line Between Drunkenness and Alcoholism?
Thomas Jefferson: I was a relatively well off tobacco planter living on a remote mountain in Virginia. We did very little physical work and we hired people or owned others that would do this sort of work for us. But finding the line between drunkenness and alcoholism was difficult in my time, because there was such widespread, heavy drinking all day long. So it was a much simpler time. It was a three mile per hour world.
