How Much Sleep Should Babies Be Getting?

The first year of life encompasses infancy, broadly from birth through the first birthday. The theme that we see throughout childhood is an overall reduction in sleep duration and longer periods of wakefulness. Newborns are also going to tend to nap every one to two hours because they haven't evolved circadian rhythmicity yet. Most infants from four to 11 months of age will take three naps per day.
