The Protests in Crimea

Protesters built enormous barricades that looked mediaeval. Temperatures plummeted as low as minus 20 some nights, but people stayed on the snowy barricades to defend their dreams of what ukrane could be. There were outbreaks of violence, more arrests and beatings. Three protesters were killed. Elvira had flown home to crimea just a few days before as her brother had been worried that things may turn violent. Now she watched the street battles unfolding on t v knowing that her brother was still there.
