The History of Interconvertible Matter and Light

Physicists have been able to convert photons of light into electrons and positrons. The process was first proposed in 1934 by two physicists in the U.S. It could be useful for high-energy physics, but it's not very practical yet. But more generally, it can be useful to have a supply of antimatter. This is a way of creating matter with its antimatter partner.
