Are There Too Many Workers and Are We Turning Parents Away?
There's a little bit of a coved hang over effect here, where a lot of people had to drop out of the labor force in order to become caretakers for all these reasons. So yes, maybe tat some people had alternate arrangements, but more likely, there's just not enough slots. People generally undervalue the value of their own time. And so when they look at child care on a sort of hourly basis, they think, my time is worth less than 50 dollars an hour or whatever.
