Saverion says that his memory is absolutely perfect, like a steel sieve. He doesn't see not being able to forget anything as an advantageous situation to be in. This is one of many indications that Saverion gives throughout the novels, that he's actually not a fan of his perfect memory. A memory palace describes a very specific learned technique. It's something that has to be consciously trained and created.
