The Expulsion Rates of IUDs Placed Early Postpartum
The researchers recruited 404 postpartum participants from four U.S. health systems, a majority of whom had vaginal delivery and were multi-paris. Patients were randomly assigned one to one to undergo early IUD placement at two or four weeks postpartum or interval IUD placement between six and eight weeksPostpartum. All study participants were scheduled to have a bimanual exam, a speclimxam, and a transvaginal ultrasound to see what's going on with the IUD or IUS.
