Is There a Difference Between Mandarin and Mandarin?

When I was about five fast, little sneak preview, I was like five years into learning Japanese. But my biggest weakness was something called pitch accent which is actually pretty similar to tones in Mandarin Chinese. So you can speak with bad tones and you'll sound very sorry, you could speak with bad pitch accent. You'll sound very foreign, but they can still understand you. In general, it's the vast majority of foreigners who speak Japanese speak with like awful, non-existent pitch accent for the most part. And I was one of these people.
