Double Negatives in English
Double negatives are supposed to not happen in english, but we use them all the time. In this case, you sometimes use a double negative because you're trying to cut something a little bit. You're trying to find a place between kindly and funny that still has some generosity about it,. That is not unkindly. A phrase like that can also cause that pause, like, you know, you read, it doesn't feel as smooth as a river rockright? Like it's a little bit of a jagged edge.
