In 1968, equatorial Guinea became the 126th member of the United Nations. A sleepy-eyed man, Macias Neguema, won the elections. He was groomed for office by a few Spaniards who believed he would serve their interests. But it turns out that Macias hated Spain too due to having to lick their boots for years.
