Veterans advocacy groups have pressed the v.a for more transparency and action on this issue for years even having to sue them for release the data that showed the discrepancies. The gi bill of 1944 promised all veterans returning home from war and education along with housing and unemployment insurance. african-americans had very very little opportunity to use the gi benefits that the gi bill provided throughout the south in the north it was somewhat better a study by brand-eis university projects based on limited available data said descendants of war war two veterans lost 80 000 dollars in economic opportunity because they never gained that wealth.
