The Origins of Apostolic Succession
John Calvin criticized certain Catholic rites and offices in the same way that Ignatius criticized anostic ideas. Roman Catholicism was viable because it was a big organization with standard operating procedures, he says. Later surviving apocryphal acts books offered more accounts of the lives of the apostles than what we encounter in apostolic fathers' biographies.
