For the Freedom of Zion: The Great Revolt of Jews against Romans, A.D. 66–74 (Guy MacLean Rogers)
The Worthy House (Charles Haywood)
The Battle of Masada by John Rogers
Rogers gives a year by year, blow by blow account of the campaign. The Romans ultimately devoted something like 15% of all their fighting forces to crushing the revolt. Rogers seems to think it was inevitable, given the nature of ancient sieges and Roman frustration. But he occasionally nods at the idea that defeated enemies should be punished for moral reasons after a defeat.
