The Paleolithic and the Christian Myth of the Wild Earth
For Paleolithic hunter-gatherers like the Paleo-Indians in North America, there was no sense of that they were radically different from anything else. The Greeks took that material change and they mythologized it into the soul. And then next I think is, writing because for pre-literate peoples, the mind worked like anything else like weather or like a stream flowing. But once you can write things down, then that mental realm suddenly starts looking timeless and different from everything.
