Confucianism and Fideal Piety

There are psychological differences and they are actually more pronounced in liberal democracies where people are given more choice. If you go to a developing country and you want a daughter who's very clever at maths and science and can make the family money then she will become an engineer, she will not be given a choice. The same phenomenon is found in places like Japan and South Korea because they have from Confucianism the concept of Fideal piety.
