Mamelo's 'Mortara Affair'
In ro he pope is really reliant on the french army to keep himself in power. Mamelo thinks, if i can get the french on my side, the pope will be left defenceless. Some one else has the same idea. The prime minister of another italian state, the savallard kingdom in turin count camillo cavour was known as a pretty serious series of political economists. Cavour is the master mind behind the movement to unite the italian states under a secular ruler. He looks at the mortara case and thinks, hum, i might be able to use this to take down the pope.
