The thing in the hall began staring at Margaret davis three or four days after she'd moved into the studio. Peggy was a copy editor, and she loved her work. She spent a lot of time thinking about certain things, things she couldn't control,. dark things, often the end of things. The short story had been added to the eighth folio and left out of subsequent versions for some reason. It has been in luded here as a matter of record.
