The Great Power That Goes Into Your Brain
Columbus was a Godfearing Catholic who partly hoped to convert savages to Christianity. He clamped down hard on anyone who defined him on this or in any way at all, both indigenous people and Spanish connellists. Columbus captured Tino people hiding in the mountains in slaving 600 on Hispaniola and sending 500 to Spain. 200 died en route. One of his own troop had a tongue cut out after she slagged him off. Another Spaniard had his ears and nose cut off before being shackled and banished. It ended up far from rich, creeping around Ferdinand's court, begging for his attention.
