The Effects of Water Temperature on the Body
Air and water both remove heat from the body by convection. On a windy day you'll get colder. Water conducts heat, or convects heat 20 times faster than air. So that's why water pposes the greatest dangers of getting really, really cold. Youare just removing heat at such a high rate that unless you are generating heat to match that rate of heat lost, you are going to get much colder in water quicker.
