The Importance of Paying Attention to Long-Term Impacts of AI
In practice, a lot of the relevant difference between people with different focuses is empirical beliefs and also how much have a mindset of trying to work on the most important thing that they can. So if you're someone who specifically cares about the long run or lasting impacts of AI, then almost equal this will cause you to pay more attention to any sort of risk that has a contingent lasting impact. At the same time, though, it may still be the case that some of these issues are the ones that it's most important to pay attention to,. even if you don't have a special interest in the long run implications of these risks.
