Putin's Decision to Back Down on Pragosen
There was a deal, apparently, between Putin and Pragosen mediated by Lukashenko. So from Putin's standpoint, he sees in Pragosen a very dangerous man. It's better to have him in the tent than out of the tent. He has a following. He's a populist. And I think Putin, who has a very keen political sense, saw that Pragosen was appealing to the rank and file within Russia with his populist messages. People are increasingly coming out against the war. We'll see how many are willing to speak out."
