Between the 1960s and 2014, we saw a steady decline in chronic global hunger. In 2015, that trend turn and we started seeing the number of chronically hungry people rising. The really weird thing about this is that between 2014 and 2015, global food prices fell dramatically. And what has been happening here is that as the system has lost its resilience, shocks are more easily transmitted through.
