radioactive waste has been a pivotal issue that has kept a number of countries from supporting the continued growth of nuclear power. But in canada, even without a permanent solution to radioactive waste, some premiers have declared their intent to move forward with new nuclear power. So there's two converging issues here. Whether you support new clear power or not, you have to accept the simple reality that a lot of nuclear waste already exists and needs to go somewhere safe. Does supporting a disposal project like this one open the doors to accelerate new nuclear energy projects? This question was bugging me so i called up two of the smartest energy policy experts i know of.
